Focus Cell MS Excel  Using Conditional Formatting: Select the range: Select the entire area of your worksheet where you want the highlighting to work. Go to Conditional Formatting: On the Home tab, click "Conditional Formatting" and then "New Rule...". Create a new rule: Choose "Use a formula to determine which cells to format" and enter the following formula (assuming your active cell is A1):  =OR(ROW()=CELL("row");COLUMN()=CELL("col")) Format the cells: Click "Format..." and choose a fill color (e.g., light gray) to highlight the active row and column.  Apply the rule: Click "OK" to apply the rule.
